Evanesce
2017
Materials: Japanese paper dipped in beeswax.
Installation: Pinned away from the wall with thin nails.
Evanesce examines depersonalization and dissociation, a form of psychological detachment from the self and others caused from childhood adverse experiences. The figures simultaneously fade between the physical and psychological realms. The wax serves as a metaphor for memory, a permeable membrane that is affected by the present and house traces of the past.
